Autumn Comes None Too Soon

When summer begins, it’s already too warm for me. When Autumn comes sauntering in I’m ready for the cooler temperatures, colors to change to the familiar oranges, reds and yellows, the crisp night air, leaves crunching beneath my feet and the promise that those hot summer days wont be around again for a while. Of course this is Colorado and one never really knows when we will get a heat wave, then there is the battle of the thermometer – it seems I’m always a little too warm. Sigh…

The cooler days also mean hot chocolate, baking, oven meals, and grandmas homemade chicken noodle soup recipe. YUM! I’m not big on the pumpkin spice flavor craze, but I do like to boil some cinnamon sticks, vanilla, cloves, orange peel and cranberries on the stove to make the kitchen smell just like fall came sweeping right in the door.

Yes, Autumn is one of my three favorite seasons.
